Bramble

You have been watching the light for so long that you hardly notice what grows beneath your feet.

The woods are full of things that demand your attention—leaves shifting overhead, flowers tucked between the roots, branches reaching toward the path. The bramble has never been one of them. It grows beneath it all, tangled and alone, without blossoms to admire or beauty to draw your eye.

So you pass it by.

Until a thorn catches your skin.

The sting comes first. Sharp and sudden enough to stop you in your tracks. When you look down, a thin line of red has appeared where the thorn found you.

First blood.

And for the first time, you see the bramble.

You see the twisted stems winding through the undergrowth. The thorns hidden among them. The quiet, desolate thing that has been growing here all along, unnoticed beneath everything prettier than itself.

It did not bloom for your attention.

It did not call to you like the light.

It only had to reach out once.

The Bramble is an original artwork by Laurie Sams from the Haunted Woods collection, giving focus to one of the forest's most overlooked inhabitants—the lonely, thorned growth beneath the leaves and flowers, noticed only when you finally feel its presence.

A true 1 of 1, handmade, completely one of a kind, and never recreated as another original.

You didn't notice the bramble until it noticed you first.
